SHS Scholarships
There are currently two official scholarships of the Sweden House Society (SHS) and one by the SHS member organization SWEA Vancouver:
- The SHS Karl Ståhl Award. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist a British Columbia student with the cost of his/her post-secondary education. Value: $2,000 CDN. Deadline April 15, 2021.
- SHS Laila Axén Award. Deadline April 15, 2021. Value: $2,000.
- The SWEA Vancouver-University of British Columbia Scholarship for undergraduate studies in Sweden has been cancelled for 2020 due to Covid-19. Find out more on SWEA Vancouver’s website.
For all scholarships, applicants have to demonstrate and prove a strong interest in Sweden and the Swedish community in BC. Volunteering at the Scandinavian Centre or in any of the member organizations weigh heavily in the decision made by the scholarship committee.

Scandinavian Dancers of Vancouver, BC
This is to notify you that we have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel the Spring Equinox Ball for now. We are very aware that our venue is a Seniors Centre, and we don’t want to risk bringing any illnesses to that potentially at-risk group. We will try to reschedule later in the year when things have calmed down. Riita will be sorting out refunds for those who have already paid.
We have also cancelled the Friday evening concert at the Centre, as the Norwegian fiddler has cancelled his trip.
