Time for crayfish! Traditionally,  a Swedish crayfish party takes place in the end of the summer. This tradition was started because crayfish harvesting in Sweden was, for most of the 20th century, legally limited to late summer.  Since the Swedish crayfish became extinct, Swedes all over the world rely on IKEA and China to deliver these yummy and delicious shell fish for our sometimes rowdy parties.

It is the 21st time the Swedish Women’s Educational Association arranges a true crayfish party with all the customary party accessories that are obligatory. These consitute of comical paper hats, paper tablecloths, paper lanterns (often depicting the Man in the Moon), and bibs.

A cheerful atmosphere prevails amid noisy eating and traditional drinking songs (printed in a little booklet in English so that everyone can take part). It is considered customary to suck the juice out of the crayfish before shelling it. Don’t worry, we will show you how it is done!

The tickets include a three course meal  with enterntainment during dinner. Only 60 tickets will be sold, so purchase your ticket early!

All proceeds go to SWEA Vancouver.
