James A.V. Bligh M.Arch, B.ASc. “Importing Nordic Ideas and Designs to the Pacific Northwest”
Rugged mountains, forests, and coastline: a description of both Scandinavia and the Pacific Northwest. Join Architect AIBC James AV Bligh for a rapid-fire review of Scandinavian ideas and designs that exist (or should exist) in the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by a summer trip through Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, the presentation illustrates ideas at play in the Nordic countries, aiming to inspire local businesses to draw from them in their own pursuits.
James works at Proscenium Architecture + Interiors Inc. as an Architect AIBC. He holds a Masters in Architecture from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design and a Bachelors of Applied Science in Civil-Structural Engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has written for several publications and e-publications including Canadian Architect Magazine and Price Tags. James has been an architectural awards jury member for the AIBC and has served on SALA Thesis Committee. He lives in Gastown with his wife Errin, an Optometrist responsible for his cool glasses. Significant influences in James’ career include John Shnier, Bruce Haden, Brigitte Shim, Shane Williamson, the team at Proscenium, LEGO, the west coast modern home he grew up in, and his loving family
